Client Overview // A successful printing and branding company for over 170 years, Bear Graphics is well-known not only in Sioux City, Iowa where they are located, but in the counties they serve across the United States. Their commitment to truly helping their clients, combined with excellent customer service and product quality, it what has kept them successful for almost two centuries.

As they are looking to continue to grow and better serve their clients, as well as gain new ones, a big area of potential improvement was their website, which was about 20 years old in 2019. Utilizing Adobe Flash for anything but the homepage, it was extremely difficult to load and navigate, did not adapt to mobile devices (where about 60% of web traffic comes from), and impossible to update. The site was also not optimized for SEO, so it wasn’t working for Bear Graphics by helping to bring in new customers. Overall, it simply didn’t align with the quality and ability of Bear Graphics.

Our Plan // Coming in at about 20 pages, this was the biggest website our team had tackled to-date. Although it was a big challenge, we were up to the task! The first step was creating a timeline and project plan, along with identifying the key things that would make this site a success for the team at Bear Graphics. This is why we take the time to get to know each of our clients and learn what their business goals are- we then create our strategy to align with their business goals and help them reach them.

We knew it was important to really tell the story of the company, because 170 years in business is a huge accomplishment. It was also key to showcase the wide variety of products Bear Graphics in a way that was clear and easy to find, and would help them to bring in new clients through a carefully-considered SEO plan.

Execution // Because of the size of this site, it took 12 weeks to complete start to finish. As with every website we create with our clients, we make sure to review with them every step of the way so that the finished product perfectly matches their brand identity and is even better than they expected! We don’t launch a site until we are 100% satisfied with every last detail and would be proud to have it represent our brand.

Our biggest challenge with the development of this project was ensuring the World’s Fair Book, a particularly important historical artifact from the company’s history, was seamlessly integrated into their website. Luckily, our web team is a group of rockstars and we were able to convert the file, keep it interactive, and make sure it showed up beautifully on the page.

Result // After 12 weeks of hard work, officially launched! The new, custom site shows a modern, sleek design that maintains the brand’s identity, while being easy to navigate, and optimized SEO targeted to bringing in new clients. Featuring real product images, it clearly communicates to customers where they can go for various products, while making sure it easy to reach their customer service team to answer questions.
