Why You Should Include Video in Your Marketing

Video is so popular lately and for good reason! I mean, wouldn’t you rather watch someone talk about all of the great features of a product than read a paragraph (or more!) about it? We know, we know. We sound like a broken record. Because if you’ve read even just a few of our blogs, you know we love video. But we’re definitely not the only ones! And that’s the reason why you should use video in your marketing plan if you’re not already.

Maybe when you hear about video you think of a catchy commercial, or a video that starts playing on a website. It has great editing, background music and you can just tell it was done by a professional. This kind of video is great to have because it can be used everywhere! Sure, keep it on your website, but share it on social as well. Put it in an email blast. Plus, if it shows something general about you and your company like a virtual tour, it can be used for a while! This kind of video will cost a little bit more, but it will be worth it when you see how many views you can get!

Of course, hiring a professional videographer isn’t the only way to include video in your marketing. Facebook LIVE, stories and Instagram stories are free and a great way to reach your followers! There’s even IGTV, which is a longer video you can create on Instagram.

An article from Hubspot said 62% of people said they were more interested in a product after seeing it in a Facebook Story. Sixty two percent! And all that’s needed is a little bit of time and confidence. Because let’s be honest, many of us don’t go LIVE or create videos of ourselves because the thought of having that for all of your followers to see is a little nerve-racking! But that’s one of the best parts about these features. You don’t have to be or are expected to be a professional or get a professional videographer to take advantage of this feature! Even if you do mess up or say the wrong thing, your followers will appreciate you being real and genuine.

Another reason why you should take advantage of social media videos is because you can share so much! Show a quick behind the scenes video of your product in action or explain your newest product or service you’ll soon be offering. Even if it’s not showing your product, you can still reach your audience and get them to know a little bit more about you by showing what you do each day. Give them a glimpse into your world so they feel like they know you on a more personal level. It doesn’t have to be all business, so you can show a little bit more of what you and your business are passionate about (other than your product or service.) If you do a lot for your community, share a video of you and your team volunteering. The possibilities are pretty much endless and you can have a lot of fun sharing more about what you do in a video!

We know it will take some time to get used to doing this. Afterall, sometimes it’s hard enough to remember to snap a picture at work and post it on social. Yeah, creating a video will take a little more time and maybe a bit more planning. But it will be worth it when you see how many followers watch and engage with you!
