Why Your Business Should be Using Instagram (And Facebook Too!)

It seems like everyone has a Facebook page, right? It’s super easy to use, so many generations use it and it’s a great way to share and keep up with others. But what about Instagram? Is it as useful as Facebook? Will it reach as many or more followers? Will people be engaged on Instagram? Absolutely! A lot of businesses are missing out on a great opportunity to connect with their followers on Instagram. Here’s why your business should be on Instagram:

You get to be more personal with your followers. Since it’s just photos and not a lot of text, it’s an exciting way to share more behind-the-scenes photos that will allow your followers to learn about you in a more relaxed way.

Instagram has a lot of great features. Stories, messages, Instagram TV and a tab to explore other pages are just a few of the fun things you can do. Like Facebook, Instagram is often changing and improving. Staying on top of the trends will show you’re relevant and able to adjust.

People love photos. Often on Facebook, a post with a great photo will get the most likes. That can be all the time on Instagram! I don’t know about you, but we’re totally more likely to scroll all the way through Instagram to make sure we don’t miss a cool photo.

There’s no reason not to use it! Love Facebook because you can engage with your followers? You can on Instagram too! Comments, likes and private messages are all allowed on Instagram so you aren’t losing any contact with your followers. You can also have a business profile that adds call, email and directions each  linking to your page so you can easily connect!

While Instagram is the fun, newer social site, Facebook continues to grow and change and is still a great tool to use! If you’re looking for new ways to use your account, Facebook Live is a great feature that allows you to pop on and share with your followers. It’s a fun feature you can use consistently or surprise followers with an exciting announcement, new product, or just to check in. Video has become more popular in the last few years and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all. Take advantage of it! You don’t have to be a professional videographer and it’s still something you can be proud enough of to put on the internet.

Most important – posting often and consistently on Facebook is key. Publishing posts 2-4 times a day will ensure your posts are being seen and not getting lost in someone’s newsfeed.

Social media is an effective and fun way to connect with your target audience. We encourage you to experiment with post times, photos, videos, content and ads, and if you need a little help getting started you can download our Social Media Plan Template to set your month up for success!
