Hi, I'm Becca

Do you find yourself scratching your head, wondering why your content isn’t getting the traction you hoped for? Content strategy is more than just posting on social media. So, if you find yourself on the content creation struggle bus, know you are not alone. Many seasoned business owners like yourself often grapple with the challenges of content creation. But those days are soon to be over, because today, we’re going to debunk three major misconceptions that might be holding your content back.

#1: Creating Content Just to Go Viral

Picture this: You spend hours crafting the perfect post, pouring your heart and soul into every word, every image, every hashtag. You hit that “publish” button with high hopes, expecting likes, shares, and comments. But as the hours tick by, the only thing you hear is the sound of crickets.

Sound familiar? You’re not alone. Many entrepreneurs fall into the trap of creating content solely with the intention of going viral. But here’s the truth bomb: viral fame isn’t sustainable, and it’s definitely not the be-all, end-all of content creation. Plus, it’s not a content strategy.

Sure, going viral might give you a temporary boost in visibility, but what happens after the hype dies down? Or even worse, you’re going viral for nothing that has to do with your offers or your business. If your content lacks substance or fails to resonate with your audience on a deeper level, you’ll quickly fade away. And you don’t want to be a one-hit-wonder. No, you’re better than that.

So, instead of chasing viral fame, focus on creating meaningful content that adds value to your audience’s lives. Share your expertise, tell your story, and engage authentically with your community. Remember, quality always trumps quantity, and building genuine connections will yield far better results in the long run. #2: Lack of Consistency

Raise your hand if you’ve ever felt personally overwhelmed with the amount of content “they” tell you to create so you remain consistent. Are you still being told to post everyday? We are constantly on the lookout for what others are sharing and consistency still reigns at the top. But we get it, you’re trying to keep all the cogs running from CEO to the janitor.

So, you know the drill: you start off strong, posting regularly and engaging with your audience like a content creation powerhouse. But then life happens, and before you know it, your posting schedule goes out the window faster than you can say “content calendar.”

But here’s the thing: consistency is key when it comes to your content strategy. Think of it like watering a plant—if you neglect it for too long, it withers and dies. Similarly, if you’re sporadic with your content, you risk losing momentum and diluting your brand’s presence online.

Consistency doesn’t have to mean churning out content 24/7. It’s all about finding a rhythm that works for you and sticking to it. Whether it’s posting once a week, twice a week, or even daily, the key is to set realistic goals and stick to them like glue.

And know that as you are able to, your content plan can grow too. And if you’re ever in a pinch, repurposing old content can be a great way to reintroduce it to your audience or share it again since most of your community probably didn’t see it the first time.

#3: Giving Away All Your Knowledge for Free

Ah, the age-old dilemma: to give or not to give away your knowledge for free? The gurus are torn on this one. But when it comes to sharing your knowledge online, it’s easy to get stuck trying to find that perfect balance of what to offer for free or paid. And there are a lot of different opinions out there about this.

But we believe sharing valuable content for free is a good thing—it’s actually a savvy business move. By offering insights, tips, and advice to your audience, you position yourself as a trusted authority in your niche, building credibility and trust along the way. And today’s buyer is a real stickler on trust since so many people have been burned recently with offers that make a big promise, but fail to deliver on that promise.

But here’s something to keep in mind. There’s a fine line between sharing valuable content and giving away the farm. While it’s important to share your knowledge to build trust, it’s equally important to save your best teachings for paying clients.

If you’re going to offer some of your best work for free to build trust, start by offering bite-sized nuggets of wisdom that showcase your expertise. Think of it as a teaser—a glimpse of what you have to offer, with the promise of even more value for those who choose to invest in your products or services.

Content creation doesn’t have to be a source of stress and overwhelm. By busting these three misconceptions and embracing a more strategic approach to your content, you’ll be well on your way to building a thriving online presence that showcases your expertise, engages your audience, and drives real results for your business.
